What Is A Shape?
It is a geometric shape like a circle, square, heart, or rectangle. These are just some of the 2D shapes.
2D Shape Tracing Card Printables
I love these shape tracing cards because you have two options to use for tracing 2D shapes. Each type of card has all twelve shapes: circle, square, rectangle, triangle, oval, rhombus, star, heart, crescent, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon.
These shape cards are great for fine motor practice with kids. They let kids trace the shapes and see the shapes. They are great for kids in preschool (ages 3 to 4), prek 9ages 4 to 5), and kindergarten (ages 5 to 6).
2D Shape Tracing Cards with Just Shapes
The first type of card is just a set of shapes to trace. There are 6 cards per page. I have printed ours on color cardstock and laminated
them.

2D Shape Tracing Cards with Kids Holding Shapes
The second type of card has a kid holding the shape and then the shape to trace. This gives you a way to look at the shape and with the tracing. I printed ours on cardstock and laminated
them.

One fun way to use these cards is to fill the shape in with playdough. You can fill in the whole center of the shape.

You can also use erasers to fill in the shape. We had fun with the space ones with the crescent shape. You can use any type of erasers you can find. Any small item would also work great for this.

Outline the Shape with Playdough
You can switch back to the tracing part and outline the shape with playdough. They make small snakes and line the shape.
