2D Shape Tracing Cards
I love having matching printables. I love the large shape tracing pages and to match that we have the smaller free shape tracing cards!
These cards are handy for smaller hands that are learning about shapes. You have twelve fun shapes for kids to trace.
You can make a set of cards for each student or reuse them in learning centers. There is not just one way to use the cards.
This printable is a part of my subscriber library. You can click here to subscribe to get access to the page. You will find the printable in the number section on the subscriber freebie page.
I love these cards because you have two options for what you want to use. Each type of card has all twelve shapes: circles, square, rectangle, triangle, oval, rhombus, star, heart, crescent, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon.
The first type of card is just a set of shapes to trace. There are 6 cards per page. I have printed ours on color cardstock and laminated
them.

The second type of card has a kid holding the shape and then the shape to trace. This gives you a way to look at the shape and with the tracing. I printed ours on cardstock and laminated
them.

Ways to Use the Shape Tracing Cards
The easy way to re-use these cards with when they are laminated and using a dry erase markers
on them. Kids can trace them over and over. We also put all these cards on rings to help keep them together easier.

Plus after they get through tracing they can use a q-tip and eraser the marker so they can do it again. Two types of fine motor work at the same time.

One fun way to use these cards is to fill the shape in with playdough. You can fill in the whole center of the shape.

You can also use erasers to fill in the shape. We had fun with the space ones with the crescent shape. You can use any type of erasers you can find.

You can switch back to the tracing part and outline the shape with playdough. They make small snakes and line the shape.

You can use a mix of erasers to outline the shape. I love these pencils for the straight lines.

You can use any themed eraser during the season to outline the shape. It is great for fine motor work.

Don’t forget you can leave these for kids to trace and color and then cut out and make their own shape flipbook! Super simple and fun to do!
