Big & Small Ocean Water Bead Search
We have been having some ocean themed fun at our last few weeks of preschool. This big and smalls sensory bin was easy to put together and loads of fun. Who says you have to do a big sensory bin to have fun.
One thing I love about this bin is the size difference in the ocean animals.
To go along with this activity we read Commotion in the Ocean. This is one of our favorite ocean books. You can have so much fun with the poems in the book.
What you need for this activity: Safari Ltd Ocean TOOB, Safari Ltd Coral Reef TOOB
, Safari Ltd. Good Luck Mini: Ocean Fun Pack
and blue water beads

The first thing we did was count how many ocean animals we had. We found there were 8 small and 8 big.

We mixed in the ocean animals and the search began. This was fun to just see what she could find in the small bin. It was easy to find the big ocean animals. If she found a big one I would encourage her to try and find the small one that matches or was similar.

She also did a sorting for them by big and small. The was something fun and easy to do. Plus she had to search through all the beads to find the ocean animals. This makes a great sensory activity. I would every now and then ask her to find an ocean animal to see if she could feel it in the beads.

After the sensory bin is done it is fun to just play. That is the great thing about sensory bins is that you can do activities and have just open play. They always do things differently than you expect.
