What are CVCE words?
CVCE words are work that has the silent e at the end. I have also heard them called “magic e words”. They are Consonant Vowel Consonant E words.
So that you will find words like mine or hike are CVCe words. The e at the end of the words makes the vowel in the CVCe words a long vowel sound.
These can be tricky to learn but are great for kids to know the trick about the words.

Each CVCE bookmark has a picture of a CVCE word with the ending that matches the CVCe bookmarks. Then you have a list of the CVCe word below that have the ending CVCe ending. Each work follows the Consonant Vowel Consonant E pattern on the bookmarks.

Ways to Use the CVCe Word Family Bookmarks Printable
You will see a few ways to use the CVCe Bookmarks with kids.
Preparing the CVCe Bookmarks
The CVCe bookmarks are great to print on cardstock to help them stand up to repeated use. You can also laminate the bookmarks to help them last longer.
We printed ours on cardstock and laminated them. We store ours on a ring. You can pull out the CVCe words you are working on first and then add more.
Keep the Bookmarks on a Ring
You can see how keeping the bookmarks on the on a ring it great. You can flip through all the different words. I keep ours on the ring even when we are not using them to keep them together. You can see how hand it is.
You could also sort them by vowels. That would give you four sets of the CVCe bookmarks.
Read the CVCe Words
These are great for kids who are just learning the words. They can work on reading the words on each bookmark. They can start at the top with the CVCe ending the are learning.
Then read each of the words on the list. The bookmarks are great for little hands to see. And you can read them over and over.
Use with Other CVCe Printables
