Fall Tree: Watercolor & Oil Pastels
Fall is a favorite time for us! We love the changes in the leaves. I love just watching the changes outside. It is a great time to be a kid and play in the leaves.
I also love that there are so many fall activities and crafts that we can do. Today I have a fun Fall tree with Watercolor and Oil Pastels!
We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission.
Our favorite fall book is Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf. We read it every year. Plus we have made loads of fall trees after reading it.
They wanted to pull the book out and make a new fall tree. So that is what we did.
What you need for the Fall Tree: Watercolor & Oil Pastels

How we made our Fall Trees with Oil Pastels and Watercolors
The first thing I did was make the stencils that we used. I use a maple leaf punch 1 1/5 inches and punched several out on colored cardstock. The colored cardstock is so that we can see the stencil easier. Plus you can make the stencil over and over if one gets ruined.

We always start with tracing our trees. This gives un an area where we will make the tree. Plus you can always redraw your pencil lines and you can’t redraw the oil pastel lines.

Then we colored in the trunk of the tree and the branches we wanted. I love to see how different we all make our trees.

Next is leaves on the tree. You place the stencil where you want the leaves on your tree. You color inside the stencil. You don’t always have to fill in the whole stencil. They can color it however they want to.

As you make the leaves they can overlap each other. We used all the colors of red, yellow and orange that we had in our oil pastels to make a fun mix of leaves.

After we had as many leaves as we wanted we painted the sky and grass. We made sure to paint some of the white spots on the tree.
