Flower Paper Plate Wreath: Oil Pastels
Spring is here and flowers are going to be blooming soon. And it is a favorite time for me to walk around and see the flowers.
We thought we would decorate the house a little with a fun paper plate flowers wreath. The Flower wreaths are great for spring.
This flower wreath are super easy to make for kids in preschool, prek, and kindergarten. And older grades can do it as well.

I love that this flower wreath goes so great with our other flower activities and wreath crafts on the site.
What is a Wreath Craft
A wreath is a collection of items around a circle. It can be used as a seasonal decoration around a house.
Flower Paper Plate Wreath Craft
The paper plate flower wreath is made with a paper plate and flower made from cardstock and oil pastels. A really fun flower craft you can do with kids.
The flower wreat is a fun art project for kids in preschool (ages 3 to 4), Prek (ages 4 to 5), and kindergarten (ages 5 to 6). But remember older kids can do this as well and you can add more parts to the wreath.
Book to read with the Flower Wreath Craft
There are so many fun flower books to read. We love Planting a Rainbow is a fun book about the flowers and all the different colors they can be! This is a spring favorite for us.
The Flower Alphabet Book is a great alphabet book with all different types of flowers for each letter. Another way to see fun flower and work on letters.
Both show so many wonderful flowers and it is fun to see the colors and how different each flower can be.
What you need for the Flower Paper Plate Wreath
- paper plate (center cut out)
- dot markers
- dot marker brilliant set
- oil pastels
- oil pastels neon
- white cardstock
- glue
- flower punch – daisy
- Flower Shape Craft Punch
- 1 1/2 flower punch

We made a flower punch template to see how far on the paper we would need to color. I love using these to help us out. we have several flower punches so I pulled out some of them. If you don’t have a punch use flower cookie cutters and then just cut out the flowers.

How we made our Flower Paper Plate Wreath
You will see the steps below we used to make the flower paper plate wreath.
Step 1: Dot Marker the Paper Plate
We start out by coloring our paper plates. We use dot markers for this. They are simple and easy to use on the plates. You can always use crayons or markers to color the plates as well.
We use the dot markers because they dry really fast when doing crafts.

You could also use watercolors to paint the plate. it also dries really fast.
Step 2: Color the Cardstock for the Flower Colors
Then we colored the white cardstock with oil pastels. This is fun because you can blend the colors or really do any color you want.

Step 3: Punch Out the Flowers
Then you take the punch you want and line up the paper in the punch and then push hard to punch out the flower.
Fun tip if you are doing this with older kids have them turn the punch upside down to see what part of their coloring they are punching out.

You can see the punched out flower and the paper. This is a fun way to have every flower different.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for Different Flowers
You repeat those steps until you have all the colors and sizes of flowers you want. This is always decided by what they want to put on the wreath.
And remember there are lots of flower and you can make them different with the oil pastels.

Step 5: Glue the Flowers on the Wreath
Finally, you glue on the flower on the wreath. You can arrange them how you want. One way you have done it is to lay the flowers on the wreath first and then glue each flower in place.
Do what is best for your age of kids.
