Hands-On Learning: Football Sorting Multiplies of 3 & 7
Football season has started and I wanted to put a few fun things out for it. I also love that scoring and football lends itself very nicely to work in 3 and 7s.
This is an easy way to work on skip counting or multiplies of those two numbers.
Today I have a free sorting activity for multiplies of 3 and 7 with footballs. It is a wonderful addition to math centers as well.
I wanted something simple that could be used a few ways. There are two sets of cards, a sorting mat and recording sheets that can be used with this set.
In this set, it works on the common scores of 3 and 7 points from football. It is a fun way to work in skip counting and multiplication together.
There are 8 cards for each number. It is missing the numbers that would be the same for 3 and 7. The cards work great for sorting mat or using with the worksheets. The cards go up to skip counting 12 times.

The sorting mat has two sports for 3 and 7 to sort the footballs. This gives kids a hands-on way to see the numbers. I recommend laminating the cards and mat to help them last longer.
If they are struggling with the numbers or just starting out. I recommend having the skip counting bookmarks close by.

Now if you want to have kid write down which cards the numbers were sorted to you can. I have two worksheets for this. The first has a spot to just write down the number.

The second sheet has a multiplication problem they can fill out to answer the information. This makes it a great center for learning.
