Kids have three different skip counting puzzles to work on numbers from 4 to 120. Each puzzle’s skip counts 10 times wiht the 10 puzzle pieces. They are great for working on skip counting by 4.
These are great for kids in second grade and third grade that at working on skip counting many times.

What is Skip Counting by 4?
Skip counting is working on adding the same number over and over. You have a pattern of adding or counting.
So if you skip counting by 4s, you have a pattern like 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, and so forth. These patterns can be repeated for many numbers.
Most often, you skip count at least 12 times, but you can skip count more.
Today’s American Flag skip counting puzzles work on skip counting by 4s. You have puzzles with skip counting from 4 to 40, 44 to 80, and 84 to 120. Each puzzle skip counts 10 times. There is also a skip counting building mat for the puzzles.

Laminate the American Flag Skip Counting by 4 Puzzle First
I always laminate the puzzles. This helps them last longer. I like to laminate them before cutting them out. But you can laminate and then cut out the puzzles.

Then I cut out the puzzles. I know that people have different options about how to do this. So do what is best for you. You can see how fun the puzzles are for kids.
Preparing the Skip Counting Puzzle Mat
Another part of preparing the puzzles is the puzzle mat. This is a printable mat that you can use to help build the puzzles on. It has the space for the 10 pieces.
I like to laminate the mat and then put wall putty on it. This gives something for the puzzles to stick on.

Setting up a Skip Counting Puzzle Center
A fun idea to use these puzzles is in a skip counting center for kids. You can see the puzzle cut up, the skip counting mat prepared and the skip counting bookmarks. We used the skip counting bookmarks with multiply bookmarks skip counting by four.
Starting the Skip Counting by 4 Puzzles
You can see below we started the puzzle. You can start at the biggest number at the bottom or the smallest number at the top. You can see we started at the smallest number at the top.
You can use the bookmarks to help figure out the number order, or see if kids can figure it out all on their own.
The Finished Skip Counting By 4 Puzzle on the Mat
You can see below a finished skip counting puzzle. You can have kids start at the top and skip count up the numbers. Then have then start at the bottom and skip counting backwards from the number. You can do this with all three puzzles.
Mixed Up Skip Counting Puzzle
A fun idea is to use the puzzle mat and place one of the puzzles in a mixed up order on the mat. Then kids take the pictures off the mat and put them in the right order.
This is great for finding the smallest number and starting at the top or finding the biggest number and putting it at the bottom and working their way up the numbers.
The skip counting bookmarks are a great help with this activity.
