Addition is adding one group of items to another group of items. This is adding 2 and 3 to get five. It would looked like 2 + 3 = 5.
Addition math facts are one of the first things that kids learn. It is a skill that you build on from counting.

You can count the shells as you say the equations. So that you have the right side of the equation with the left side. You can use the same types of shells or different types of shells.

You can pull out the unifix cube to make the equation. You can see how simple it is to use them to build both sides.
