What is a blend?
A blend is when two or more consonants are blended together, but the letters in blends all make a separate sound.
SK would be an example of the consonant blend. So the word ski has the blend of sk.
You sound out S and K sounds in the word.

Plus an area where they can draw their own picture and word. The printable allows kids to be creative. These printables are a print and use. There is no prep involved at all in them.

Ways to Use the Blend Coloring Page Printables
I will show you a few ways to use these blends coloring pages. And remember, these are just options you can use.
Trace the Blend Words on the Blends Coloring Pages
We like to start off by tracing all the blend words. You can talk about the pictures and blend words. You can also point out the blend in each of the words.
Color the Blend Picture
Then you can color the blend pictures. This is a fun way to work on matching the picture and the blend word. I like when you can work many skills in at the same time.
Draw and Write your own Blend Word
And then, you have space to draw and write your own blend word. This lets kids be creative in drawing and figuring out a word to do. But know you don’t have to do this section.
Underline the Blend in the Word
A few things you can do with these blend worksheets is to underline the blend in the word. This is a great way for them to see the blend in the word they are tracing. You can see the sk underline in the word.
Write the Blend in a Different Color
You can also use markers and trace the blend in a different color. It is super easy to do, and we use markers or crayons to trace.
We did black and blue for the colors. You can pick the colors that work best for you.
Reuse the Blend Coloring pages
You can also reuse these pages. You can use the tracing part of the page and put the page in a sheet protector. Then they can trace the word over and over. And if you have lots of colors of dry erase markers they can color the page as well.
