What is Measuring?
Measuring is a type of math that you can start at different ages but mostly starts in late PreK and Kindergarten. You use different objects to measure the length or height of an object.

You have a single skate on each strip. You have a starting point and a stopping point of how far they skated on each strip. All the strips have different distances. You have 8 total distances for kids to measure. There are numbers on each length that match the numbers on the recording worksheet.

Skating Distance Recording Worksheet
You have a recording sheet for measuring each distance. You measure how far they skated. Then you color the block to make the distance. The blocks can be used with the different types of measuring tools.

Ways to Use the Skating Measure Distance Printable
You are going to see a few ways to use the skating distance measuring printables.
Preparing the Measuring Distance Printables
You are going to want to print the measuring cards on cardstock. This helps them last up longer in learning centers. You can also laminate the cards as well. You can do the same for the measuring tools in the set.
You can print the recording sheet on copy paper.
Measure with Unifix Cubes
Now you don’t have to use the measuring tools that come in the set. You can use unifix cubes for this. You are going to see how close you get to matching the length on the page.
You can have them show just how many it takes when they measure or use all of them and count how many it takes. A great way to add a little hands-on to the measuring.

Measure with the Blue Ruler
You can also use the blue measuring tool in the set. It has enough squares to use with all the measuring strips. You can have kids measure and see how many easy length is.
You can see how easy it is to put the measuring tool at the bottom of each strip.

Measure with the Skates
You can also use the fun skate measuring printable. It has several skates for using with measuring. It is not set at an inch but a odd size. And a fun way to work on measuring. You can have kids guess how many skates they think a length would be.
You could also compare the two different ways or measuring and talk about it with kids.

Using the Measuring Worksheet with Cards
Now a nice part is that you have a matching measuring worksheet for kids. This allows you to use different types of measuring tools. You have several squares for kids to color the each cards.
Each card has an number to use to match up to the worksheet. You can have them use the cards in order or any order they want to do.
They can measure the length and then color the squares to match.
