You are going to see a few ways we have used the number puzzles with kids.
Preparing the Number Puzzles
The number puzzles work best when printed on cardstock and laminated. You can laminate the puzzles and then cut out the puzzle afterward. You can store the puzzles in a baggie or in a sheet protector in a binder.
Give one Number Puzzle To Build
You are going to start off with giving kids one puzzle at a time. Kids who are just starting out will do best with just one puzzle. You can see that we have the number 10 puzzle.
After kids make the puzzle have them point and count the gumballs on each puzzle. Then have them point to the number word and then the numerical number. So you have hands-on for building the puzzle and then you can use the puzzle for more number learning.
Put the Number Puzzles in a Sensory Bin
As kids get older and are better at puzzles and matching. Try putting the puzzles in a sensory bin. You can see we used a simple rice sensory bin and put the puzzle in it. You can have kids search and find all the pieces of the different number puzzles.
You can do this as a learning center or in one on one learning.
