You can work on addition and numbers that are bigger and smaller than 5 with this free pirate addition pirate sorting!
You have a great addition center with pirate treasure chests and gold coins so that kids can work on adding and figuring out how big or small the number is in relation to the number 5.

What is addition?
Addition is defined as adding something to something else. So that is adding different things together.
This is where kids learn one plus one equals 2 or 1 + 1 = 2. You start on simple and work up to more complex math.
The pirate addition sorting works on adding upper to numbers below 5 and numbers above five.
You have a sorting mat with more than 5 and less than 5 treasure chests to sort the coins to.

You have 12 gold coins with addition equations to sort to the chests. You will find 6 coins for each treasure chest.
I recommend printing these on cardstock and laminating to help them last longer.

You also have a recording sheet for kids to record the gold coin addition cards that they on the treasure check mat.

Ways to Use the Pirate Addition Sorting Printable
You are going to see a few ways you can use this pirate addition printable.
Sorting the Addition Coins to the Sorting Mat
You can just use the coins and the sorting mat. This is a great way to see if they sorting all the correct coins. There will be an even number of coins if they sort them right.
You can have kids say one plus two equals three. It is a great way to work on addition math facts.

Recording Addition Cards
You can also have them record the gold coin addition on the recording sheet. It has space for all 12 equations and you can see that you can write the equation in the correct column.

Pirate Addition Coins on Rings
If you want to make this an addition math center you can put the addition gold coins on a rings. This keeps the cards together and they won’t get lost.

Pirate Addition Math Center
Once you have the addition coins on a ring add them to the recording paper. This is a great way for kids to flip through the coins and record their answers.
It is also put to print the addition recording sheet on
colored paper. Yellow works great for the pirate theme.
