What is Skip Counting?

Skip counting is working on adding the same number over and over. You have a pattern of adding or counting.

So if you skip counting by 2s, you have a pattern like, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and so forth. These patterns can be repeated for many numbers.

The most often skip counting numbers used are 2 through 12.

This printable skip counting more and less printable works on skip counting with so many numbers less or more than a number.

You have skip counting more and less mats that work on numbers from 2 to 12. There is a mat for each number. They come in color and black and white.

You are going to see a few ways to use the skip counting mats and worksheets below.

Setting up the Counting Less & More Center

You can pull out the skip counting mat, the matching skip counting cards, and a skip counting bookmark for the mat. You can use the mat with or without the bookmarks.

If they are having issues with the numbers the bookmark can help.

Using the Skip Counting Less and More Mat

You can use the cards that come with the mat to work on skip counting. You can use any of the cards sets with the skip counting mat or the numbers that match with the mat.

You can see how we used the cards that come with the set for skip counting by 2 on the more and less by 2 mat.

You place the card in the middle and write the numbers that come before and after. We put the skip counting mat in a sheet protector so we could write on the mat. You could also laminate these if you are going to use them a lot.

You can do several different numbers to see the before and after. This is a great way to practice skip counting in a different way.

Using the Skip Counting Less and More Mat with the Cards

You can use the cards in the set tow work on skip counting. You can print an extra of one set of cards. Then they put the number card in the middle and pick out the matching numbers that go that many before and that many after that number.

If you print three sets of the cards you can put them on rings for a math center.

Using the Skip Counting Cards on a Ring

You can use skip counting cards with the mats. You can print them off on colored cardstock to change them up. A great way to store the cards is to put them on a ring. When they are on a ring they work great with a skip counting learning center.

Using the Skip Counting Less and More Mat with Dice

You can use dice with these mats. You can use any number to work on skip counting more and less. You can see we used a 10 Sided Double Dice to get our number.

You can see that these skip counting mats work for any random number.

Using the Skip Counting Less and More Worksheet

The less and more worksheet in this skip counting printable can be used with or without the mat. You can take the cards and write the skip counting for the numbers that you pull.

You write your number in the middle and then the numbers before and after. You can use any numbers with this set but each mat works great for more and less for skip counting.
