What is Skip Counting
Skip counting is counting forward or backward by a number other than 1.
So that would be like skip counting by 2 and you would have the numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 etc.
A lot of skip counting is also part of repeat addition and multiplication.
You skip count four times by two 2, 4, 6, 8. You get eight as the ending number. It is the same as 2+2+2+2=8 or 2×4=8.

The snowflake skip counting strips have four strips for each number. You have two strips that go forward and two that skip counting backward. Plus, there is a skip counting recording sheet you can use as well.

How To Use the Snowflake Skip Counting Strips
You are going to see how we used these skip counting strips. And ways to prepare them.
Preparing the Snowflake Skip Count Strips
You can print the skip counting strips on cardstock. You can se white, bit it is also fun to use stardust cardstock.
We used stardust cardstock for this. It adds a little fun color to the strips with little bits of color here and there.
You can see we laminated the skip counting strips. After we have the laminated we cut them out. We use a paper cutter.
After the skip counting strips are cut you can store them on rings to keep numbers together.
Writing on the Skip Counting on Single Page
One activity you can do before you cut the strips is use them in a learning center. You can use the single page for kids to write in the missing numbers with two number skip counting forward and two skip counting backwards.
You can also just put a skip counting page in a sheet protector and do the same thing without laminating.
Setting Up a Skip Counting Center
Below you can see a set up for a snowflake skip counting center idea. You have several number strips, with a dry erase marker and skip counting bookmarks.
The skip counting bookmarks are great for kids who are struggling with skip counting.
Write on the Snowflake Skip Counting Strips
After you have the skip counting math center set up kids can write the skip counting numbers on the strip.
You can see below how easy it is to do. Just wipe off between each of the kids.
If you have issues with the dry erase marker sticking then use dry erase board spray on the strips. You put a little of the spray on a paper towel and use it to wipe of the numbers.
Using Skip Counting Tiles on the Skip Counting Strips
Now not everyone is great at writing but still needs to work on the numbers you can use the skip counting tiles to have numbers to place on the skip counting trips. You can give them all 12 and they could use them all or just the numbers that they need.
Using the Recording Sheet with the Skip Counting Strips
Now if you love the strips but want more of a skip counting center with a way to keep track of how they did.
Then use the recoding sheet. It has enough snowflakes to match each set and kids can write all the skip counting numbers on the worksheet.
You can also put a set of the skip counting strips on a ring to have different sets of number strips to use.
