Ways to Use the Three Billy Goat Gruff Long Vowel Sorting Printable
You are going to see a few ways to use the long vowel sorting printables.
Setting up a Long Vowel Center
These long vowel printables are great for a learning center.
You can give them the four bridge and all three goats to each bridge.
You could give them two bridges and three goats to sort to each bridge.
You could give them four bridge and one goat to sort to each bridge.
How you set it up is based on the needs that you have and the learning style of the kids.
You can also review the long vowel words and endings before they start their learning activity with the long vowel words.
Sorting One Long Vowel Picture
You can see here how sorting one of the goats to each bridge would work. You can mix up the goats so that each bridge might have a different goat.
You could keep it to the same goat. So that when they are sorting they know that each one will have the same goat. You can have them say the long vowel words as they sort the goats.
Sorting All the Long Vowel Words
You can work on sorting all the goats with the pictures of the longer vowel words to the correct bridge. It is easy to see that each bridge will have one of each type of goat.
After they sort the goats you can have them said the long vowel words to see if they did it right.
Matching Game with the Three Goats
You can also play a matching game with the goats. You can give them all the goats mixed up. They are to pick out the three goats with the same long vowel ending. So they will find all the oat ending and the oad endings.

Writing the Long Vowel Words
You can also use the long vowel vocab cards in a writing center. You can see we have the bridge with the ending of the long vowel words. We are using the -OLD words. So you know how it will ending and you work on the beginning sound of the long vowel words.
You can write each of the words on the writing paper.
You could repeat this for each of the words. You could also ask for kids to write a sentence using the long vowel word.
