You can use all the bricks or you could start out with just a few shapes to start. For kids who are just starting out might do best with one shape to sort and work up to more shapes to sort.
You can review the shape names and the shapes on the bricks before you start doing the sorting activity.
Sorting the Bricks to the Correct Pig Mats
You can see below how simple it is to sort the shapes to the correct shape mat. You can help kids that are just starting out learning their shapes. You can say what shape mats name and have kids find the shape for that mat.
You can also just sort one shape at a time to start. And the next day add more of the shapes to start.
You can check after and have kids see if they only have the same shape on each mat.

You can also just work on matching the shape shape with the bricks. You can use a lot of shapes or just a few shapes for the matching.
You can see below we are doing matching the same shape with just matching two shapes. It is simple and you can work up to more complicated with lots of shapes as kids learn their shapes.

You can work on making patterns with the shapes. You can use two shapes for AB pattern or use three shapes for ABC pattern. You could also challenge older kids for ABCD patterns.
