What is Skip Counting by 3?
Skip counting is working on adding the same number over and over. You have a pattern of adding or counting.
So if you skip counting by 3s, you have a pattern like, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and so forth. These patterns can be repeated for many numbers.
Most often you skip count at least 12 times but you can skip counting more.

Preparing Skip Counting Puzzles & Puzzle Mat
You are going to see how I prepare the skip counting puzzles.
Laminate the Three Little Pigs Skip Counting by 3 Puzzle First
I always laminate the puzzles. This helps them last longer. I like to laminate them before cutting them out.

Then I cut out the puzzles. I know that people have different options about how to do this. So do what is best for you.
Preparing the Skip Counting Puzzle Mat
Another part of preparing the puzzles is the puzzle mat. This is a printable mat that you can use to help build the puzzles on. It has the space for the 10 pieces.
I like to laminate the mat and then put wall putty on it. This gives something for the puzzles to stick on.

Build the Skip Counting Puzzle
You can see how kids can start building the skip counting puzzles. You can do this with or without the skip counting mat. The puzzle mat helps keep the pieces in place as they build the puzzle. They can start with the first number of the puzzle and then build from there.
Using the Skip Counting Bookmarks
You can use the skip counting bookmarks with the skip counting puzzles. The skip counting bookmark set has more skip counting for each number on them. You can see below that this set has some beyond the first 12 numbers.
Pull out the bookmarks you need or use all four of the skip counting by 3 bookmarks.
You can see how handy the bookmarks are. And they are a great help for kids just working on skip counting.
Mixed up Skip Counting Puzzle Center
Another fun ideas is to put the puzzle on the mat all mixed up. Then you let them fix the puzzle and put it in the correct order.
You can see an example below of a mixed up puzzle. The wall putty kids the puzzles mixed up and kids will pull off the puzzle pieces and put them in the right order.
You can always give them the first number of the puzzles to help them start out.
