Hanukkah Rice Sensory Bin
We always have sensory bins out at our house. This year for Hanukkah we have a rice base sensory bin. We have done others of them in the past. This year my girls picked out what would go into the bin.
We have done a yarn version and a candle and dreidel bin. You can check these ones out as well.

The Hanukkah Rice Sensory Bin is a great addition to the Hanukkah activities on the site.
What is a sensory bin?
A sensory bin is typically a plastic tub or container filled with carefully selected materials and objects to stimulate the senses of children in preschool.
Sensory bins might have rice, water beads, corn, beans, or other types filled with small items.
Hanukkah Rice Sensory Bin
The Hanukkah Sensory bin has a rice filler with Hanukkah coins and Hanukkah dreidels in the sensory bin. A great way to explore Hanukkah themes with kids.
We pick a book to read with our Hanukkah Sensory Bins. This year we read Runaway Dreidel! with our sensory bin. We always fun have reading the different books during Hanukkah.

Ways to use the Hanukkah Rice Sensory Bin
One thing to remember about sensory bins is that they are meant for open play for kids. I do add some activities for them to do every now and then, but they are not needed. My youngest now makes her own activities from the sensory bins.
Play in the Hanukah Sensory Bin
One of the first activities she did was run her hands through everything and then pick out on dreidel to cover with rice. She used one of the coins to put the rice on the dreidel.

Pattern with Hanukkah Coins
The second activity she wanted to do was to make patterns with the coins. The coins have two different images: menorah and Star of David. It makes great for simple patterns.

Color Match the Dreidels
She also did a matching of the color and correct symbol on the dreidel. This was fun to see her turn to make sure the gimel matching gimel with the correct color.

Sort all the coins and Dreidels
One of the last activities that she did was pull out all the dreidels and coins. She then put them back in one at a time. It was something fun she loved to do. She loves that she can run her hands through the different items in the bin.
