First and always sensory bins are for sensory play. And you can just use it for sensory play time. You can add scoops, cups and tweezersas well in the bin to make it fun.
But just playing in the hearts and rice is fun for kids.
Scoop And Pour the Hearts
A fun activity is scooping up handfuls and and pouring it back in to the bin.
You can see how many hearts they can scoop up and pour back in the bin.
It is fun activity and great to explore those sensory feelings.
Pouring the rice and hearts back in is great for kids to feel the difference in the rice and hearts as they slide off their hands.
Sort the Heart Colors in the Bin
You can also have fun just sorting the color of the hearts in the sensory bin. You can talk about the red, pink and purple colors.
There are several sets of acrylic heart colors you can use in the sensory bin. We just happen to have those three.
Make Letters with the Hearts
After the hearts are sorting you have a clear area to make shapes, numbers or letters with the Hearts.

Use the Heart on the Letter Cards
You could also take the hearts out of the sensory bin and use with it the heart ABC cards. this is a fun extension you can do. And it is fun to have different ways to use the hearts.

Remember that sensory bins are fun for kids. And are great for kids of lots of different ages. You can have a fun time using sensory activity with them.
