- white cardstock
- oil pastels – colors of reds and oranges

How we made the Lunar Eclipse Night Sky Wreath Craft
You can see the steps below that we used to make the Lunar Eclipse Night Sky wreath craft.
Step 1: Paint the Paper Plate Black with Watercolors
We started out with painting the paper plate black. You can see that we cut the center of the plate. And we kept the center to use to not paint on the table.
You want to paint the whole paper plate black.

Step 2: Color the Red Lunar Eclipse Moon
Next we worked on making the red moon with oil pastels. We use a circle punched out to see how big of an area that we needed to color. You can color a bigger area than you need for the circle.
We mixed the three colors to make the red color for the moon.

Step 3: Punch Out the Red Moon
You can punch out the red moon next. You are going to use the 1 1/2 circle punch to punch out the circle. You can see below how it is punched out after we did the coloring.
It makes a fun red circle.

A fun trick to get the moon to be all red when you punch is to turn the punch upside down so you can see the circle you are punching out.
For younger kids have them color a larger area.

You can skip this step with younger kids and punch our red circles for them to go on the wreath.
Step 4: Punch Out the Stars
You can then start punching out the three sizes of colors of stars. We have three size in a set we got and it works great for this wreath craft.
You want to have the mix of sizes to be the different brightness of the stars. You can put then out ahead of time for younger kids. But a lot of kids find punching the stars fun.

Step 5: Glue on the Red Moon
You are going to place your moon on your wreath. It can be the top, on the sides. Anywhere on the wreath is just fine.

Step 6 And Final Step: Glue on the Stars
You are going to glue on the stars on the wreath.
You can place the glue on the wreath rather than the stars. You can place several different dots of glue on the wreath. This is so much easier than trying to put glue on the stars and then the wreath.

Then we place the stars on the glue on the wreath. With the smaller start it is so much easier to place on the glue. And you can add a mix of what stars you think work best for your lunar eclipse wreath.
