Easy to Make Oil Pastel Fireworks For Kids

I love fireworks but I know not every child loves to hear them. For years we never went because of the noise bothering one of my girls. But firework art has always been fun to do!

Today’s art is super easy to make oil pastel fireworks that you can do just about anywhere.

Plus I know that I always get tons of requests for simple and easy crafts for different ages.

The Oil Pastel Fireworks is a great project to do for the Fourth of July or New Years Eve!

The oil pastel firework craft is a great craft that takes just a few minutes to do that can make some great art for kids.

You could even do this activity while waiting for fireworks!

How to make the Oil Pastel Fireworks craft

Step 1: Draw the Fireworks with Pencil

First, we start off by making our fireworks in pencil on the black construction paper. Yes, it can be hard to see, but it gives kids an idea of what they want to do with their fireworks.

If you have younger kids you could draw the fireworks for them first. It gives them a great fine motor activity tracing the lines.

Step 2: Trace the Fireworks with Oil Pastels

Then we trace the pencil with the oil pastels. We are using neon colors because they are very bright.

Step 3: Blend the Oil Pastels

After you have traced the lines with oil pastels you take a finger trace over the line. You can put a little pressure while doing this. It smooths out the lines and makes it blends the lines on the paper.

Step 4: Repeat the steps above

Then you repeat the step above over and over. Super simple and easy to do!
