Math division is a method of distributing a group of things into equal parts. You can take 12 and make it into four groups of three items.
So when you divide you make equal parts of the same thing.
So when you have 25 ÷ 5. You make five groups of 5 out of 25. It can be a tricky thing to teach.

Ways to Use the Pencil Division Spin and Cover Printable
You are going to see set up and a few ways to use these division printables. And I love that this type of mat can be used all year or just back to school.
Setting Up the Spinner on the Division Worksheets
There are a few ways to use the spinner. You want t make sure you use the spinner that matches the set of numbers you are working on.
You have a clear spinners over the top of the spin and just spin the arrow. We like using it this way. It is also easy for kids to use.
You can also use a pencil and paperclip. You place the paperclip in the center and the pencil inside the paperclip. Then you flick the paperclip to make it spin around the pencil. Where the paperclip lands is the number that you use.
Spinning and Doting the Division Answers
The division worksheet has the spinner attached to the page. You have kids use a spinner and spin and get the number. They add the number to the space in each equation.
You can see we landed on 150 and 150 divided by 15 is 10. And we dotted the 10 on the pencil. A great way to work on division facts.
You can keep going until all the numbers are covered.
Using Division Cards with the Pencil Mats
I know that not all kids can do the spinners. And that is why this set has division flashcards. That allows you to do the same as the spinner by providing the missing number in the equation for kids to fill out.
They fill in the equation and then find the answer on the pencil and cover the answer. You can use yellow glass gems to help reuse parts of the pencil.
Dot or Cover and Solve Division
You can use a dot marker to dot a number on the pencil. They use that number in the equation. Then they solve to get the answer for that division equation. A fun way to change up how to do this worksheet and have two ways helps different types of learners as well.
