Free Shark Fin CVC Words Break the Code Printable
CVC words are the start of learning phonics for kids. And it can be hard to work on them. But we can be creative in how we teach them to kids!
Today I have a fun free shark fin decoding CVC words that are great for kids to work on CVC words that end in n.
You will have fun with letter sounds and matching pictures to the corresponding letters.

What is a CVC Word?
A CVC word is a consonant vowel consonant word. They are words like fin, hen, and can. Most CVC words are easy to sound out. You can find examples of CVC words on the CVC Word Family Wall Cards.
They are some of the basic beginning phonics that kids learn.

I love that these shark cards work on CVC words in a fun way for kids. You get to work on letters sound and sounding them out. You can find the matching letter for the sound. Then sound out the word. Then you get to match the picture to the word!

You have several word cards to learn with. They all end with n. So you have a similar ending sound. They have -an, -en, -in, and -un words. There are three word cards for each CVC ending.

You can see what the cards look like right here. They have a space for the letters below the pictures and a space for matching the picture to the card. The set has matching letters for each CVC card.

Setting up a Break the Code Center with the Shark CVC Printables
Here is an example of how you might set up the center. You give them a set of decoding cards, fins, lacing letters, and decoding chart. You can limit the letters to the ones they will need or give them more. It depends on the level of the student.
