Preparing the Tissue Paper
We cut the gray tissue paper into 1 inch to 3/4 inch squares. You can do bigger squares for younger kids.
We use circle punches to make the black circle tissue paper. We use the 1 inch craft punch and 5/8 inch craft punch to make the circles.

How we made the Tissue Paper Moon Paper Plate Craft
You will see how we made the tissue paper moon craft.
Step 1: Put Glue on the Paper Plate
You are going to put glue all over the paper plate. We used glue in a bottle.
But you could put glue in a dish and use a foam paint brush to paint the glue on the paper plate for younger kids.

Step 2: Cover the Paper Plate with Gray Tissue Paper
Next we covered all of the paper plate with the gray tissue paper. You can see we started inthe center and worked our way to the edge. It won’t matter where you start.
And as kids are putting the tissue paper on they might see they need more glue and that is okay. And if the tissue paper does not cover the whole plate that is okay as well.

Step 3: Glue the Black Circles On the Paper Plate
Then we put black circles on the moon for the craters. You can put the circles anywhere on the plate. we did a mix of the 1inch and 5/8 inch on the plate.
If kids want to know where they might go you can show them pictures of the moon.

Step 4: Paint White Dots on the Black Cardstock
To prepare the background for the moon. We use a paint marker to dot white dots on the paper plate. You use the marker to just make dots along the edge of the paper. They don’t need to fill in the center.
You can have them place the paper plate on the black cardstock to see where they need to dot.
We have also used a white oil pastel to make the stars. You can see that on this moon painting.

Step 5: Put Glue on the Edge of the Paper Plate
You are going to have kids turn the paper plate over and then apply glue to the edge of the plate. You can use the glue bottle but paint brush idea from above will work as well.

Step 6: Put the Paper Plate on the Black Cardstock
The last step that we did was to put the paper plate on the black cardstock. You will place the moon in the center of the paper. But it is okay if it is off a little bit.

And your moon craft is finished!
