Torn Paper Mountain Craft For Kids
One of our favorite parts of our trip this summer was seeing lots of mountains. We don’t have any mountains in Massachusetts that we can see every day. They thought it would be fun to do something to remind us of part of our trip we during the summer.
I got reminded of the scrapbook paper from the other day and they asked to make some mountains to remind them of our fun trip. This is another addition to our after-school crafts that is just something fun we can do together or just have them do.
And this makes a great school time craft as well.

The Torn Paper Mountain Craft is a great addition to the torn paper crafts and summer craft projects on the site.
What is a torn paper craft?
A torn paper craft is a craft where kids tear off pieces of paper to make the craft.
You can use construction paper, scrapbook paper, or any type of paper to make the torn paper crafts. And having different colors of paper is fun!

How we made the Torn Paper Mountain Craft
You will see the steps we did to make the torn paper mountain craft.
Step 1: Look at Picture of Mountains
One of the fun things we did recently was look over all the pictures we took from our trip. It was fun. And before we started this craft, we looked at some of the mountain pictures from our camping trip.
We looked at how the mountains were in the pictures. This was one of their favorite pictures from the trip. You could also look at pictures of mountains online as well!

Step 2: Pick out Scrapbook Paper for the Mountains
They each picked out four different papers they wanted to use for their mountains. Each had their own idea of what would be goo. I loved to see how creative they can be with a project.

Step 3: Put the Colors in order For the Mountains
Then we laid out the colors in the order we wanted to make our mountains. Each of them picked out how the colors would be laid out. This also made it easy for the next step to know what order the paper should be glued down.

Step 4: Tear Scrapbook Paper
You are going to line the scrapbook paper you are going to tear to the blue paper. They are going to move down a little bit and tear the paper some where close to the top, but still leaving space for the sky at the top.

Step 5: Glue the Torn Paper on the Blue Paper
We put glue on the back of the torn paper. You want to make sure to cover the edges and some in the middle.

We then put then put the paper on the paper. You want to line up the straight edges at the bottom of the papers. This made the first mountain for our craft.

Step 6: Repeat Steps 4 and 5
After you have one layer of paper glued on you are gong to start on the next mountain. You are going to tear and glue like above.
The only difference is you will tear more of the paper off from the top to may the layered effect for the mountains.

You can see how as you add each layer the mountains start to appear on the paper

Simple projects are really fun to do after school. My girls love using them as a way to unwind from school. Sometimes we do these before homework and sometimes after homework. It all depends on the day.
