These are words that kids are going to be learning in second grade or later. Vowel teams can be tough to teach and it is nice to have a few fun things to help learn about them.

What is a Vowel Team Word?

Vowel teams are two vowels that work together to produce a single sound. This is also known as a vowel digraph, as both vowels produce the same sound.

Some vowel team words include rain, mail, fruit, and seed.

The common vowel teams are: ai, ay, ea, ee, ie, oa, oe, ue, and ui.

Now, these are some of the most common vowel teams that work together to make one sound.

The sound that vowel team words make is a long vowel sound. You will often teach the sounds that are similar at the same time.

As I said before these are normally taught in second grade or later because of how complicated they are. And there is no wrong or right way to teach them.
