Fun to Make Watercolor Snowflakes with Cookie Cutters
My girls just love to do painting activities. We certainly have loved painting with cookie cutters! They are fun and easy to use for many different ages.
We have a winter theme at our house. Snowflakes have always been a great theme for us during the winter. Sometimes we get huge amounts of snow, and other times, we don’t.
Today we have a simple watercolor painting of snowflakes! Simple and easy to do and can be changed up so many different ways.
The Watercolor Snowflake Painting is a great addition to the winter crafts and the cookie cutter crafts on the site.
What is Cookie Cutter Painting?
Painting with a cookie cutter is an easy craft for kids to do. This gives a template, and the results are loads of fun.
Snowflake Painting with Cookie Cutters
We have done several cookie cutter painting activities over the years. This was one my girls asked to do.
It is one of our favorite types of paintings. And kids have a blast using the cookie cutters and different colors to make a snowflake painting.
Book to Read With the Snowflake Painting
They also picked out a book that we read. It is one of our wintertime favorites: No Two Alike. The book is about how no two things are alike. It shows you many different examples of this in winter. You see, snowflakes, but not two are alike.
What you need for this Snowflake Watercolor Painting:

Painting Using Cookie Cutters
There are several sizes of snowflake cookie cutters to pick from. We each picked out own. We decided to stick to the blues and purple watercolors.
Step 1: Place the Snowflake Cookie Cutter on the Watercolor Paper
You place the snowflake cookie cutter on the paper and use one hand to hold it. The second hand you get paint on the brush and paint inside the cookie cutter.
You want to make sure to paint inside the whole cookie cutter. But it does not always happen.

Step 2: Look the the Snowflakes on the Paper
After you have finished the cookie cutter part you can always add more decorations or colors! The ways to paint are endless!

Step 3: Keep Painting Snowflakes
One fun thing to do is overlap the snowflakes. Because we are using watercolors the snowflakes can dry pretty fast. This allows you to put big on small and overlap corners of snowflakes.

Final look at our Snowflake Watercolor Painting
Here is a look at our final pictures. You can see that even with using the same cookie cutters everyone’s looks different!
