Ways To Use Sight Word Dot Marker Pages
There are a lot of Dot marker words on the site. A common question is how do you use them if you don’t have dot makers. There are many ways you can use them. I always try and think out of the dot when I can. These are fun little circles that you can use different ways. Don’t think you have to use something just one way.
Here are some examples for the Sight Word Dot Marker Pages. These are easy and make them lots of fun to do! These ideas also work for the CVC Dot Marker Words as well.
Dot Markers
You can do the most simple way and use Do-A-Dot Rainbow Art Set (Set of 6).
Have them do the dots and tell you what letter they are working on. When they are finished have them tell you the word. You could switch this up and do red for vowels and blue for consonants. This changes up how they have to think of each letter.

A second dot marker you can do is trace the letters on the page making sure you get all the circle. This is great for younger kids that are still working on fine motor control. They move the dot marker around to make the big letters.

Stickers
Stickers are a great way to do this. It builds fine motor skills while they do the activity.

Writing in the letters
In each circle you can have them write in the letter they are on. If you are doing “go”. Then in the “g” dots you write “g”. and in the o dots you write “o”

Playdough
Have them fill in each of the circles with playdough. This is great for building fine motor skills in the fingers.

ABC Stamps
This example was emailed to me. I got permission to use it. Use the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Alphabet Stamp Set for the letter they are on. So for the a you stamp a’s in the circle. This works on learning the letters in the word.

There are always more ways to do this. Have you done something different and blogged about it? Let me know and I’ll add a link to this post.

Hi, we love all the dot sight words once we do them one of my daughters fav things is to hang them up on a wall somewhere in the house and then she will keep going back to them to practice the word – kind of like a word wall only we have them spread out all over the house
That is a fun way to do it!
