Word Play: Hopping Word Families

Rose has been reviewing her word families. We were working on “it”. I thought it would be fun to do something different. We are always writing, reading, and using stuff from school. This time we made our words out of large foam letters with the idea of hopping across and saying the sound each letters makes and then putting all the sounds together at the end.

Rose walked or hopped across each one saying the sound each letter makes.

After we went across each one a few times Rose changed the first letter and made more “it” family words. After she did the few letters we had out she wanted to do others.

Her sisters wanted to be a part of this as well. So each one took a letter and said the sound when I pointed to them and then Rose said the word.

Learning to read while moving around.
